About Lucky Me

Welcome to The Unseen Weight — a place for the stories we carry, the battles we fight quietly, and the parts of life that don’t always make it into conversation.

Behind the headset, beyond the scale, and beneath the surface, every voice we hear belongs to someone carrying a story the world may never know.

I’m Lucky Me. Welcome to my little fireproof corner of the dumpster fire I affectionately call life — where honesty meets dark humor, vulnerability meets resilience, and absolutely nothing will ever be perfectly put together.

As my best friend likes to say, “I’m not a hot mess. I’m lukewarm at best.”

And frankly, that might be the most accurate description of how things are going around here.

Here, you’ll find stories about life behind the headset, the complicated journey of living in a body that doesn’t always feel like your own, mental health, personal growth, and everything in between. There will be hard conversations, uncomfortable truths, healthier versions of foods I love, and probably a few moments when you’ll wonder whether you should laugh or cry.

A little something you should know about me: dark humor is one of my favorite coping mechanisms.

Life has handed me enough trauma to fill a few novels and then some. Somewhere along the way, I learned to laugh at things that probably aren’t supposed to be funny. It’s not because I don’t take life seriously. It’s because sometimes laughter is the only thing that makes the heavy stuff feel just a bit lighter.

Considering all the ways I could’ve learned to cope, I’d say developing a questionable sense of humor isn’t the worst outcome. Lucky me, right?

This isn’t a place where I’ll pretend to have all the answers, offer picture-perfect advice, or convince anyone that a positive attitude fixes everything.

If that’s what you came looking for, then congratulations — you’re about to be just as disappointed as my parents. Considering their arrest records and the toxicology reports, that’s a pretty impressive standard to fall short of.

I am still figuring things out myself, and some days, as long as I have showered and brushed my teeth, I consider that day a win.

What I hope you’ll find here is honesty, connection, a little laughter, and the reassurance that you aren’t the only person carrying things the rest of us can’t see.

Because sometimes the heaviest things we carry are those others cannot see.
